The critical analysis let us evaluate and estimate a work (or its fragment) in numerous art and social fields such as painting, writing, movie-making or the play’s staging.

Critical Analysis: Reading with a Critical View

As you have already understood, the critical analysis allows the writer to express his/her thoughts about some text. Also it is a chance to divide it into the parts and to examine each fragment separately. A lot of pundits recommend starting your critical analysis first with a critical reading of the text.

• Define the author's thesis statement and ideas;
• With the identification of all points and concepts, try to analyze the frame of the passages;
• When you face unknown or unfamiliar material use the encyclopedia and other scientific sources;

• Think and write some brief abstract of your work;

• Analyze the author’s methods to realize the personal conceptions:
• Probably, the author intends to provide the actual information, so, evaluate the way of his narration and the quality of his work.
• May be, the author is trying to persuade you, so find the evidence from another authoritative source;
• Sometimes, the author wants to entertain the reader. In this case, you have to estimate the emotional side of his work: what kind of emotions did you feel thorough the text reading? What did you like or dislike in his work?
• Definitely, your critical review should include the necessary information, analogies, and assessment. The information usually helps the reader to figure out the nature of the work’s analysis, and the assessment describes the author’s thoughts and introduces solid arguments.

Critical Analysis: How to find a right way?

There are the recommendations for writers during their work under the critical analysis:

• First, read the whole material thoroughly. When you will cope with that task, think about the concerns that appeared in the topic.
• Choose one point that attracted your attention. It could be the ideas that you agree or disagree with. The identification of these ideas will help you during your work;
• Think up a thesis statement that reflects the purpose of your work. Show your ideas about the topic and offer the arguments for its supporting;
• Look through the paper and define details back your own words in your own thesis. Of course, you may use the references and quotes, if it is necessary;
• Begin your work with an introduction, probably, as a draft, and then finish the introduction text with the prepared thesis;

When it will be done take some rest and forget about it. After some days take this paper and look at it with a fresh mind – it will help you to revise your work correctly, and you will see the possible flaws easily.

Critical analysis includes the people statement’s analysis whether it is the expressions of politicians, scientists, philologist or other authoritative persons. The idea and the arguments of this point are also described with a critical view.
